Biography
Born in Canada, sculptor Sharon Cruson has always felt a strong calling towards the world of art. As a child, she was first introduced to the endless possibilities of creativity when a kind neighbor offered to give her drawing lessons, an experience that would change the trajectory of her life forever. So began her life-long journey of discovering, nurturing, and continuously improving her artistic talents. After moving to the United States in 1991, she became increasingly fascinated by various forms of media, ultimately discovering the captivating allure of sculpting. Even while managing a full-time job and raising a family, she dedicated any spare moments she could muster to creating her art. During the course of a significant project for a local church, she had the fortune of meeting Tallman Miller, a professional artist in the area who generously imparted invaluable lessons about life, sculpting, mold making, and casting techniques. Beginning in 2019, Sharon took a significant step in her artistic journey by enrolling in sculpting classes at the studio of North Idaho’s renowned artist, Terry Lee. These classes not only allowed her to refine her sculpting techniques but also provided her with a solid foundation for understanding the classical approach to representing the human figure. In addition to her classes with Terry Lee, her artistic work has been notably influenced by an array of inspiring artists, including Cheryl Metcalf, Phillipe & Charisse Faraut, Barrington Barber, Michael Hampton, and many others.
Until now, Sharon’s inspirations have been deeply cherished and admired by her close family and friends, who have always supported her artistic journey. She is now excitedly introducing her art to a much wider circle, as her series of works continues to grow and her passion for her craft evolves in wonderfully new ways. With every piece, she seeks to capture the essence of her creativity. Sharon continues to create stunning masterpieces from her cozy home art studio nestled in the beautiful landscapes of North Idaho.
