Biography
Born in Canada, sculptor Sharon Cruson, has always been called towards art. She was first introduced to the possibilities as a child when a neighbor offered to give drawing lessons and changed her life forever. So began a life-long journey to discovering and improving her talent.
After moving to the United States in 1991, she became interested in different media’s and eventually discovered the allure of sculpting. Although working full time and raising a family, she devoted any spare time to creating art. While creating a large project for a local church she met Tallman Miller, a local professional artist who passed on invaluable lessons about life, sculpting, mold making and casting.
Beginning in 2019, Sharon began taking sculpting classes at the studio of North Idaho’s renowned, Terry Lee. These classes allowed her to refine her techniques and gave her a solid foundation for understanding the classical approach to the human figure. In addition to the classes with Terry Lee, her work has been influenced by artists such as Cheryl Metcalf, Phillipe & Charisse Faraut, Barrington Barber, Michael Hampton and many others.
Until now Sharon’s inspirations have been cherished by her close family and friends. She is introducing her art to a wider circle now as her series of works increase and her passion for her craft evolves. She continues to create masterpieces from her home art studio in North Idaho.
